City street opening permits will once again be allowed effective immediately. Please keep the following in mind when beginning any street work in the City limits:
-The excess fill sites may be wet and difficult to get to.  Any mud tracked onto city streets will be contractor’s responsibility to clean up.
-The trench and backfill will have to be monitored and maintained by the permittee until permanent blacktop can become available.

-Construction signage and barricades must be utilized where applicable.  When the work is completed, signs must be removed.

-Street Opening Permits are issued through the Street Division at 811 S. First Street.

Limb and Branch Curbside Chipping
April - November
The brush chipping team completes monthly chipping routes, rotating through the city on a four-week cycle. Map is located at menu on left.
Brush piles should be at the curb by 6am on the Monday of your week and must be stacked per the requirements.
Stacking requirements:
Please ensure the branches have cut ends facing the street, a maximum diameter of 6 inches and a MINIMUM length of four feet.  Please do not block a sidewalk, stack parallel to curb if necessary. No grass, stumps, fabric, rocks or debris may be mixed in with the branches.

December - March
Please call the Street Department at 920-262-4080 or email streets@watertownwi.gov to be added to the Winter Chipper List. The crew is sent out when we have enough brush to chip and weather is cooperative- freezing temperatures could freeze the branches to the boulevard. As always, stacking requirements will apply.

Yard Waste Site
1507 Boomer Street
Beginning April 1st, regular hours for the Yard Waste Site will be as follows: Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The site, located at 1507 Boomer Street, will accept a variety of yard waste materials including grass clippings, vines, leaves, garden plants, and wood chips.

Residents are reminded to separate twigs, brush, or stones, which must be placed in designated areas on-site. Additionally, it is imperative that no debris or garbage is left at the site, and all bags or containers must be emptied upon disposal. While an attendant will be present to address any inquiries, unloading assistance will not be provided.

Looking ahead, residents are encouraged to stay updated on the Yard Waste Site's hours as they may vary throughout the summer due to construction activities aimed at enhancing DNR compliance. Information regarding these changes will be shared via the City's official Facebook page and signage posted at the site.

Wood chips from the Street/Parks crew are available for pick up at the yard waste site.
Absolutely NO garbage or plastic bags may be deposited at the site.  Landscape timbers, fencing and railroad ties must be taken to Street/Recycle Center (fees apply).
An attendant will be there for directions and questions.  Lift assistance is not available.
Operates April through November annually, weather permitting.

Leaves are only picked up curbside in the autumn - typically October and November.
